“Thank you” to my brother for helping me set up my web site! He is amazing! And now I will attempt to “Blog”.
I have been arranging tours of the wine region and driving groups around now for three years. I’ve discovered amazing people (as well as a few crazy ones), heard fun and talented musicians, and tasted (not while I’m driving a tour, of course!) wonderfully sublime and complex wines. The proprieters are wonderfully friendly and professional, but mostly they are artists who take great pride in their creations.
One year I even had the distinct pleasure of working at Hogg Hollow’s Spring Thing–a festival they hold every year. I had more fun doing that than driving a tour. Steve and Debbie Hogg are great people, vintners of the highest caliber, and just plain fun!
So if you can make it to their Spring Thing this year on May 19, maybe I’ll see you there and we can dance and share a bottle of their Chambourcin (my fave)!
Cabernet Franc at Blue Sky! Blue Sky’s Chambourcin Reserve has been one of my favorites for a while (I like the Chambourcin at any of the wineries!), but I purchased a bottle of their Cabernet Franc 2008 on my last tour. Its warm, earthy notes made it another of my “recommends”.
Awesome Wine Tour! Six of us did a Southern Illinois wine tour this past Saturday. Heidi and her husband did an awesome job. We had an absolute blast. I highly recommend letting them plan a tour for you. You won’t regret it. Be sure to include Lincoln Heritage as one of your stops. It was the best wine tasting on the whole tour. Owner is very knowledgeable and friendly.
